Experiments

What we are trying on the shop, and how each one is going.

Foil treatments, digital recreations

Move your cursor over a card and the sheen follows it. On a raised-foil card, the gilded frame becomes a plane of gold under the sheen that catches the light as the card tilts. In each pair, the experiment is on the left and the same scan as an ordinary foil tile is on the right.

Sword of Wealth and Power

The Big Score, Vault frame, #064, raised foil. The gold plane is a mask drawn from the card's gilding, so it shines only where the card does. This card on the shop.

Tarnation Vista

The Big Score, Vault frame, #065, raised foil. The same gilding as the Sword, so the same mask. This card on the shop.

Curator of Destinies

Foundations, Collector Booster, #373, mana foil. A lattice of circled mana symbols runs across the whole card and shows only when the card tilts into the light: the field between the symbols and the space inside each ring shine, the symbols stay dull. Tilt the card past a third of the way and it appears, strongest along one diagonal. This card on the shop.

Geth, Thane of Contracts

Phyrexia: All Will Be One, Collector Booster, #438, step-and-compleat foil. The Phyrexian symbols are a plane over the picture that shows only when the card tilts into the light, drawn from the card itself. This card on the shop.

Choco, Seeker of Paradise

FINAL FANTASY, #569, chocobo track foil. The chocobo tracks are a plane over the picture that shows only when the card tilts into the light. This card on the shop.

What we are trying, and how it is going

Testing: live on the shop and being judged. Accepted: staying. Failed: tried and dropped. Implemented but cancelled: built, then withdrawn.
